I’m a freshman in college this year and I left my car at home, about 45 minutes away, because parking was just another insane cost on top of the insane cost of college in general. I really don’t need a car here. Everything I could possibly need is within walking distance. I’ve taken public transit a few times. I’ve taken an Uber only once. I do NOT need a car here.
Since I’m away from home, my dad removed me and my car from his insurance policy until I come home for more than just a weekend (so Christmas break). So even when I do come home, I can’t drive, but my car stares at me from the driveway, teasing me almost.
I just have a 2012 Chevy Cruze, it’s nothing special, but I love the way it looks. It has the RS package in white which I think looks really, really nice on that car. It has a turbo-4 with a whopping 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft. Not fast, but it feels nice to floor it anyway. And the thing handles insanely well. Seriously. It stays planted so well, it’s so fun, it rivals even some sports cars in that aspect. Give a lot of credit to GM for that.
I’m taking my first college final in about half an hour. I probably should be studying. But if I was back home, with access to my car, I would probably just be driving around right now, music blasting, clearing my mind. And now I can’t. So I’m sitting in a Starbucks, trying to study more on my laptop, but instead writing a few paragraphs on how I miss driving my car.
